Message Usage & Top-Ups
Webase uses a message-based usage model. Each plan includes a monthly message allowance, and certain actions consume messages. Understanding how messages work helps you make the most of your plan.
What Counts as a Billable Message
The following actions each consume one message from your monthly allowance:
- Chat messages — Sending a message in the Chat panel to refine or update your app.
- App generation — Creating a new app from a description.
- Feature suggestions — Asking the AI to suggest features for your app.
- Deployment — Deploying your app to a live hosting URL.
One action = one message. Each of the actions above uses exactly one message, regardless of how long the AI's response is or how many files it creates or modifies.
What Is Free (Not Metered)
These actions do not consume any messages and can be used as often as you like:
- Evaluations — Running quality checks on your app with the Evaluate button.
- Evaluate & Improve — The automated evaluation and improvement loop, including all fix iterations.
- Direct code editing — Making changes manually in the Code tab.
- Previewing — Viewing your app in the preview panel or sharing via the public preview URL.
- Data operations — Creating, reading, updating, and deleting records in your data models.
Monitoring Your Usage
You can track your message usage in several places:
Editor Toolbar
The Application Editor toolbar shows token and cost statistics for the current app. This gives you a real-time view of how much each conversation is using.
Account Settings
Your account settings show your current billing period's usage against your plan limit. You will see how many messages you have used and how many remain for the month.
Message Top-Ups
If you run out of messages before your billing period resets, you can purchase message top-ups to keep building without waiting or upgrading your plan.
- $5 per pack — Each top-up adds 25 messages to your account.
- No expiration — Top-up messages carry over and are only consumed after your plan's monthly allowance is used up.
- Purchase anytime — Buy as many packs as you need from your account settings.
Purchasing a Top-Up
Go to Account Settings
Navigate to the Subscription section in your account settings.
Buy a Message Pack
Click Buy Message Top-Up and complete the payment through Stripe. The 25 messages are added to your account instantly and ready to use.
How Messages Are Consumed
When you perform a billable action, Webase checks your available messages in this order:
- Monthly allowance first — Messages from your plan's monthly limit are used first.
- Top-ups second — Once your monthly allowance is exhausted, top-up messages are consumed.
- Out of messages — If both are exhausted, you will be prompted to purchase a top-up or upgrade your plan.
Tip: Make the most of each message by writing detailed, specific prompts. A single well-crafted message that describes exactly what you want often produces better results than several vague messages — saving you messages in the process.
Plan Limits by Tier
- Free — 30 messages per month.
- Starter — 150 messages per month.
- Pro — 500 messages per month.
