Billing & Account
Plans & Pricing Guide
Webase offers three subscription tiers to fit your needs, from casual experimentation to serious app building. This guide explains what each plan includes, how billing works, and how to manage your subscription.
Plan Overview
Every Webase account starts on the Free plan. You can upgrade at any time to unlock more apps and messages.
-
Free — $0/month
- 3 apps
- 30 messages per month
- Full access to all features (chat, code editing, preview, data models)
- No credit card required
-
Starter — $19/month
- 5 apps
- 150 messages per month
- Everything in Free, plus more capacity for building and iterating
-
Pro — $49/month
- 25 apps
- 500 messages per month
- Everything in Starter, ideal for power users and professionals
Annual billing saves 20%. All paid plans are available with annual billing at a 20% discount. That's $15.20/month for Starter and $39.20/month for Pro, billed annually.
What Counts as a Billable Message
Your monthly message allowance is used whenever the AI does work on your behalf. Here's exactly what counts:
- Chat messages — Each message you send in the Chat panel that triggers an AI response uses one message.
- App generation — When you describe a new app and the AI generates it, that counts as one message.
- Feature suggestions — Asking the AI to suggest features for your app uses one message.
- Deployment — Each time you deploy your app to Netlify, it uses one message.
What's Free (Doesn't Count)
Several actions in Webase are completely free and do not count against your message limit:
- Evaluations — Running quality evaluations on your app is free. The AI reviews your app and scores it without using any messages.
- Auto-improve iterations — When you use "Evaluate & Improve," the AI automatically fixes issues and re-evaluates. These improvement cycles are free.
- Saving your app — Clicking Save to persist your app's current state is always free.
- Viewing previews — Opening your app's preview URL or browsing your app list costs nothing.
- Editing code directly — Making changes in the Code tab doesn't use any messages since the AI isn't involved.
- Managing data models — Creating, editing, and deleting data models and fields is free.
Tip: Take advantage of free evaluations. Run "Evaluate & Improve" to let the AI polish your app without using your message allowance. It's a great way to get a higher-quality result at no extra cost.
Message Top-Ups
If you run out of messages before your billing cycle resets, you can purchase a message top-up for instant additional capacity:
- $5 for 25 messages
Top-up messages are used after your plan's monthly allowance is exhausted. They don't expire at the end of the month — unused top-up messages carry over until they're consumed.
You can purchase multiple top-ups if needed. They're a great option when you're in a productive building session and don't want to wait for your monthly allowance to reset.
Checking Your Usage
You can monitor your message usage in several places:
Editor Toolbar
When you're working in the Application Editor, the toolbar displays your current token and cost statistics. This gives you a quick sense of how much AI processing your current session has used.
Account Settings
Your account settings page shows your current plan, the number of messages used this billing period, how many messages remain, and when your allowance resets.
Usage Warnings
Webase will notify you when you're running low on messages or when you've reached your limit. You'll see a prompt to either wait for your monthly reset or purchase a top-up.
Upgrading Your Plan
To upgrade from Free to Starter or Pro (or from Starter to Pro):
- Go to your Account Settings page.
- Click Upgrade next to the plan you want.
- Enter your payment details (if not already on file).
- Choose monthly or annual billing.
- Confirm your subscription.
Your upgrade takes effect immediately. You'll get the new plan's app and message limits right away, and your billing cycle starts from the date of upgrade.
Downgrading Your Plan
You can downgrade your plan at any time from your Account Settings. Here's what happens:
- The downgrade takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You'll continue to have access to your current plan's limits until then.
- If you have more apps than the lower plan allows, your existing apps are not deleted. However, you won't be able to create new apps until you're within the new plan's limit.
- Unused messages don't carry over. When your new billing period starts, you'll get the lower plan's message allowance.
Canceling Your Subscription
If you cancel your paid subscription, you'll retain access to your current plan until the end of the billing period. After that, your account reverts to the Free plan. All of your apps and data are preserved — you just won't be able to exceed the Free plan's limits.
